Everyone has been talking about Dubai’s hotel performance! STR reported March hotel occupancies above 90% for the first time since 2007 and in December the highest monthly room rates since 2015.
Dubai of course had the privilege of hosting Expo 2020 between October and March. While the UAE hotel industry was already rebounding from the pandemic, Expo 2020, like World Expos before it, saw a massive influx of international visitors to the city. In the final weeks of the delayed Expo, March saw a surge in hotel website revenue as organisers geared up for record numbers to the fair.
Strong leisure demand for predominantly beachfront and luxury properties saw a surge in average order value for Dubai hotels in March at AED 10,505.
In Abu Dhabi, hotels are also enjoying record post-pandemic website performances. Average monthly website bookings for the capital’s hotels have been climbing since February with an average of 64 bookings during April. Nearly 50% of which were made on a mobile device.
Abu Dhabi also boasts some of the highest conversion rates in Q1 2022. In January, hotel websites posted average conversion rates of 2.72%, 2.58% in February and an impressive 3.28% in March.
